FAN302HL with mWSAVER™ Technology Wins in Green Product of the Year Category for Exceeding Energy Star Requirements

Fairchild’s FAN302HL PWM controller for low standby power charger applications was selected as a winner in the Green Product of the Year Category for Exceeding Energy Star Requirements.

Developed to address the challenge design engineers face where chargers typically sit plugged in and unused most of the time – yet, still drawing power from the grid – the FAN302HL can reduce standby power, thereby saving energy, meeting government regulations and saving the consumer money.

Incorporating mWSaver™ technology, the device features patented technologies that allow the FAN302HL to minimize standby input power consumption to <10mW@230VAC, exceeding Energy Star program requirements for computers version 5.0 efficiency standards. In addition to computing applications, the FAN302HL is ideal for all chargers devices such as smartphones, cordless phones, DVD/Set-Top Boxes, Power Over Ethernet and small appliances.

The FAN302HL does not require an external secondary-side over-voltage protection (OVP) circuit. If either VS pin OVP or internal over-temperature protection is triggered, the device enters latch mode until AC power is removed, saving second side OVP components and tightening VO protection (<6V).
