SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Today the winners of CTIA’s E-Tech Awards will be announced, and DigifitTM is a finalist in the Mobile Applications: Health, Wellness and Fitness category. The popular fitness and health app today also announced a host of new features and functionality, as well as two new accessories: Digifit Connect 2 (DC2) and the Digifit Bike Case. “Digifit first launched in February 2009, which is kind of like saying ‘Established 1995’ in ‘app years.’ We were the first iPhone app to integrate real-time heart rate monitoring and interval training,” said Michael Williams, Digifit founder. “Since then, we’ve been adding depth and breadth to our offerings, recently connecting the dots between health and fitness by bringing weight and sleep to Digifit’s Dashboard for Healthy LivingSM. We’ve always planned to incorporate blood pressure, too, so I am thrilled that Withings’ blood pressure cuff for iPhone is soon-to-be-released.”

“We announced the Withings blood pressure monitor during the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show and were able to offer the same integration platform to developers as our current WiFi body scale,” said Cédric Hutchings, Withings co-founder. “Digifit has been quick to incorporate this technology and has made it so that, on day one of our blood pressure monitor availability, their users will be able to retrieve their blood pressure data. Our Withings body scales have already achieved this, and we are now expanding our success with the blood pressure monitor. In partnership with Digifit, we look forward to making health even simpler with the help of technology.”

Digifit version 3 updates include many enhancements, including:

  • Multitasking Enhancements: Answer your phone, reply to a text and when you return to Digifit resume from where you left off. If you are only using location services, not sensors or a heart rate monitor, Digifit tracks your outdoor workout in the background.
  • Withings Compatibility: Already compatible with the Withings WiFi weight scale, Digifit announces compatibility with Withings’ long-anticipated blood pressure monitor for the iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.
  • Backup & Sharing: Digifit now allows backups of users’ workout results, weight, sleep scores and blood pressure through the Digifit Cloud Account and Web LockerTM Sync, which also enables sharing between multiple iOS devices.
  • Wahoo Interoperability: Digifit apps are now backward compatible with the Wahoo Fisica sensor key and bike case, allowing users to wirelessly connect to an even broader range of sensors.
  • Voice Feedback: Whether choosing a workout built with music in your iPod library, time intervals or a simple QuickStart, Digifit’s voice feedback guides you through your workouts keeping your heart rate within your target zone and provides updates on key metrics such as speed and distance.

In addition to the recent app enhancements, Digifit also announced new accessories. The new DC2 ANT+ receiver is 60 percent smaller and has a much snugger fit than its predecessor, Digifit Connect. Digifit also released a water-resistant bike case for the iPhone with the Digifit Connect receiver built-in.

Digifit, the most comprehensive fitness and health tracking system for every workout, won the Andrew Seybold MobileApp Challenge at CTIA 2010, and was also awarded in Oct. 2010 Hot for the Holidays by CTIA Wireless in the fitness buff category. The Digifit™Connect accessory is a wireless transceiver that enables Digifit to communicate with more than 80 ANT+ fitness sensors including heart rate monitors and foot pod stride sensors by popular brands such as Garmin and Adidas.
