HUK-COBURG Increases DBA Productivity Significantly

In order to increase the efficiency of database administrator (DBA) tasks and to free the DBA group from routine work, HUK-COBURG evaluated its software solutions and chose the BMC CATALOG MANAGER for DB2® solution to replace the previous solution.

HUK-COBURG relies on BMC to deliver its services to the market faster. Using an integrated suite of mainframe technologies, HUK-COBURG has significantly increased DBA productivity through the deployment of BMC CATALOG MANAGER for DB2. Due to this success, the database administration department at HUK-COBURG regained the time needed to concentrate on very complex and skill-demanding tasks.

For the past 15 years, the company has used the BMC CHANGE MANAGER for DB2 solution to maintain data availability and integrity. HUK-COBURG uses BMC CHANGE MANAGER for DB2 to keep databases synchronized across two z10™ machines. The solution ensures integrity of information and reduces mainframe costs.

The company implemented the BMC CATALOG MANAGER for DB2 solution to support the application development team efficiently with an interface that is user friendly and intuitive. With the solution, HUK-COBURG can support 200 development specialists, automating time-consuming error-prone tasks, maintaining user privileges and executing DB2 commands. With the solution, support staff have been able to navigate the DB2 catalog without knowledge of the catalog structure, while it seamlessly collects vital statistics about DB2 objects.
