Chancellor University Launches Master’s of Management in Social Media Marketing
SEVEN HILLS, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Chancellor University will be among the first institutions in the world to launch a Master’s of Management in Social Media Marketing concentration beginning January 2012.
“From Facebook to Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube – firms and individuals are embracing social media platforms at an ever-increasing pace. Our one of a kind online program addresses the many issues surrounding this phenomenon and provides a roadmap to help individuals navigate social media to gain a competitive edge,” said Dr. Steve Kerr, Chancellor’s Provost. Dr. Kerr formerly ran global leadership development for General Electric.
With over 700 billion minutes spent on Facebook per month and an average of 190 million tweets per day, Chancellor University’s team of academically accomplished instructors and industry experts have tailored the program to address the constantly evolving world of multi-channel social media marketing.
The curriculum will provide rigorous, cross-disciplinary professional training for future leaders in all aspects of social media marketing, enrolling students in a one-year master’s degree program that explores the applications of social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter for both internal and external purposes, across a range of organizations and industries.
“Both corporate leaders and small scale businesses are challenged to understand the fast-paced world of social media and how marketing within this channel will improve their profitability and brand,” said Dr. Jason Wood, Undergraduate Dean of Business. “Our program is practical and state-of-art and will provide our students with an understanding of the use of social media in order to achieve competitive advantage.”
The courses within the program are intended to balance fundamental theory and concepts with practical tools and will provide students with the necessary tools to create a viable marketing and strategic plan for developing and cultivating a brand within the Internet community.
