The CareerBliss data evaluates unemployment numbers in conjunction with the way employees feel about job opportunities in their state. Employees rate whether they feel there is future job growth on a scale of one to ten, with ten meaning job growth was definite.

Heidi Golledge, CEO and Co-founder of CareerBliss, says, “The unemployment numbers are of great concern. However, CareerBliss data shows that for many of the states in our top ten-list - employees feel positive about job growth. California ranks second overall for unemployment, but when asked if employees feel there is substantial job growth ahead, their employees’ average response was yes. Which is a good sign for the job market in 2012.”

Golledge says, “Many states like California have seen an increase in jobs in industries such as technology and healthcare year over year, which helps contribute to how employees feel about the future.”

More than four thousand employees were surveyed evaluating how employees feel about future job growth in their area of expertise. In addition, CareerBliss evaluated unemployment rates. All reviews analyzed are from 2011.
