AppSense Experiences Another Year of Record Growth
Leading provider of user virtualization solutions increases booked orders by 54 percent and increases employee count by 60 percent
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- AppSense, the leading provider of user virtualization solutions, announced today that it has had another record financial year. In fiscal year 2011, which closed June 30, AppSense increased its booked orders by 54 percent globally from the previous year, to just over $71M*. The company also continued to invest in its leadership position by increasing its employee base by 60 percent, with many of the additional resources focused on Enterprise delivery of the AppSense user virtualization technology.
In what is expected to become a $2.4 billion market in the next four years, user virtualization ensures a seamless user experience across all delivery platforms (physical, virtual, cloud, mixed, etc.). The AppSense User Virtualization Platform enables enterprises to transform their desktop estate and embrace the new trend of “bring your own device” by separating the user component of the desktop from the operating system and applications and managing it independently, ensuring that the user can access all of their information from any desktop or device.
Other highlights through FY2011 include:
- The US market now accounts for 50 percent of AppSense business
- In February, the company closed a $70 million investment by Goldman Sachs
- Harry Labana was recruited as chief technology officer in May
- Increased the EMEA footprint with offices in Nordics and France
- Opened a cloud and mobile technology Research Center in Santa Clara
“The remarkable growth that AppSense has experienced highlights the significant demand for user virtualization technology in the market,” said Darron Antill, CEO at AppSense. “User virtualization has now emerged as a true category in its own right and a vital component of desktop transformation initiatives that include both PCs and mobile devices. I am proud of what we have accomplished to date and look forward to expanding into new areas such as cloud, data and mobile devices in FY2012."
The past year has also seen significant growth of the AppSense Professional Services (APS) and Customer Support Divisions. The APS team of over 30 highly skilled practitioners has delivered more than 350 enterprise-scale customer deployments and trained over 1000 customers and partners globally. The Customer Support Division of over 40 support professionals provided multi-level support to AppSense’s over 4000 customers globally.
AppSense has also continued to develop its relationship with key industry partners. In May, AppSense announced its elevation to Managed Independent Software Vendor Partner status by Microsoft Corp. In addition, its User Virtualization Platform successfully completed Cisco’s interoperability testing on their Virtualization Experience Infrastructure (VXI). Most recently, AppSense announced that its User Virtualization Platform is now a core building block of HP's new Client Virtualization Reference Architecture. These endorsements demonstrate that AppSense User Virtualization is recognized as crucial technology as organizations look to transform their desktop estate to a user-centric model.
"As more and more organizations deploy desktop virtualization and move to mobile applications, user virtualization is emerging as a critical piece of the puzzle," said Rachel Chalmers, research director, infrastructure management at The 451 Group. "AppSense's technology lets users customize and personalize their workspace, and their growing customer base is a testament to this."
