Advisor Recruiting Site Attracts Candidates of Every Stripe
ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Anybody who recruits financial advisors knows good candidates are everywhere – in the NFL, K - 12 faculty, a class of college seniors, or another advisory firm.
It’s that last category – experienced advisors – that currently is the focus of intense competition among financial service providers. The nation’s advisor force is shrinking and the wave of baby boomer retirements will make the shortage of feet on the street even more critical. In many cases, the recruiting competition for experienced advisors turns into a bidding war: The provider that pays the biggest signing bonus gets the big producer and a share of the revenue his or her business generates.
“It doesn’t make sense for us to compete that way,” said Robert Subjects, director of individual field recruitment at Securian Financial Group, Inc. “We don’t want people to join a Securian-affiliated firm because we threw the most money at them. We offer a unique value proposition and we’re looking for people who can understand, appreciate and capitalize on that value.”
Securian’s value proposition for advisors is clearly described on a new web site that speaks to many categories of potential candidates.
- Experienced advisors will find targeted, useful information that addresses their specific needs and concerns about creating new affiliations and changing broker-dealers.
- Inexperienced advisor candidates can find comprehensive information about the career. It also offers a short aptitude assessment “Find out how you measure up,” that gives candidates a very preliminary indication of whether the career might be right for them.
- There is a sub-site about the Women’s Interactive Sales Exchange (WISE) a unique organization that fosters the growth and development of female advisors in the Securian Financial Network.
- An interactive map shows the locations of Securian firms across the United States.
The site also directs experienced advisors to information about The Securian Advantage, Securian’s unique approach to field force partnership. It is for advisors who want the freedom to run their practices their way, but with strong support from local firms with crucial functions such as compliance, benefits, technology and marketing. The site is loaded with interviews with advisors who talk about their careers and home office personnel who explain Securian’s revenue-based compensation structure and value proposition.
“Our goal with this site is to show experienced advisors and advisor candidates that we offer fair and ample compensation, deep expertise, and a rich relationship based on mutual goals and values,” said Subjects. He says sophisticated tracking tools will help with the ongoing development of the site and identifying the information that visitors find most useful.
Since 1880, Securian Financial Group and its affiliates have provided financial security for individuals and businesses in the form of insurance, investments and retirement plans. Now one of the nation’s largest financial services providers, it is the holding company parent of a group of companies that include Minnesota Life Insurance Company and its New York affiliate, Securian Life Insurance Company.
The Securian Financial Network, the marketing name for the career advisor distribution channel for Securian Financial Group, Inc. is a nationwide network of financial services firms. Products and services are offered and sold only by appropriately licensed entities and financial representatives.
