Microsoft's Internet Explorer [1] was not the only browser needing a patch this week. Mozilla patched a total of 13 bugs in the Firefox browser, with a large number--almost half--of them listed as "critical." Most of the bugs listed as critical make the browser susceptible to remote code injection, or for malicious parties to crash the browser.

At the same time, Mozilla issued the final patch to the deprecated Firefox 2.0 [2], fixing a total of 10 vulnerabilities and bringing the version number to 2.0.0.19. First released in October 2006, Firefox 2.0 will no longer be maintained. According to Mozilla engineer Samuel Sidler, the recommendation would be that users upgrade to Firefox 3 "as soon as possible." The next version of Firefox is currently in beta, and will come with a privacy mode [3].
