For the young, always connected generation, a video resume makes perfect sense. At least that's the view of Nathaniel Briggs, who posted two video resumés on YouTube to talk about his background and credentials for a CIO job. In the seven months that have passed, the video resumes have not prompted anyone to contact the 34-year-old Arizona resident to offer him an IT job. But Briggs has no regrets, and believes as time passes, it's "going to become a communication pathway that is sort of like online dating, [which] 10, 15 years ago was scoffed at and now it's a standard." At the moment, though, it's hardly the norm. Martha Heller, an executive recruiter at Z Resource Group Inc., in Westborough, MA, said she has never had a hiring committee ask her for video resumés. She also urged job seekers to be careful, noting there are some risks of turning people off. But in the right situation, she said, it's possible a video resumé might be the difference.
