Google ordered to turn over YouTube user data

Google has been ordered to hand over records of users who accessed YouTube over to Viacom in a $1 billion copyright suite. While both Google and Viacom say they were hoping to come up with a way to protect the anonymity of the site's visitors, this development has raised concerns among both privacy advocates and YouTube users, which number in the tens of millions. Marc Rotenberg, who is the executive director of the Electronic Privacy Information Center, put it most succinctly: "It is an 'I told you so' moment," he said.
