Starting out at the Help Desk used to be the end of the road in IT. Never a chance to move on or up. Today, so many things are changing and new career paths may be opening up to end the stove-piping that had been traditional for IT. This week we report on this interesting strategy in an article in ComputerWorld. This new view is a refreshing change from the way IT professionals have been boxed-in in the past, not only from the help desk but from other jobs IT where rigid rules and thinking have limited mobility and shortchanged organizations. Perhaps it is time for IT departments to look around and start growing the very best talent within their own operations--many of whom may actually know how the system really works. -Judi [1]
