With the iPhone finally unveiled and geeky rumormongers searching for a place to funnel their collective energies, the rumor of the Google phone was born. But all good things must come to an end and as I said back in January, "it's a fake." [1] Google's South-East Asia managing director of sales and operations, Richard Kimber, has squelched the rumors, stating that "At this point in time, we are very focused on the software, not the phone." Considering Google's business model and partnerships with other device manufacturers, this makes quite a bit of sense. Does it completely rule out the possibility of a Google phone? No. Does it make the rumor even more highly unlikely than it was before? Yes.
