A top tech leader at AOL and two researchers working for the CTO have been fired following the search engine's research data incident, in which information on thousands of AOL subscribers was posted online inadvertently. Maureen Govern, the tech officer, is being replaced by the company's former CTO John McKinley, who is currently president of AOL Digital Services. In a memo to employees, AOL stated that it's creating a task force to investigate best practices with regards to privacy issues and to determine how long saved data should be kept on hand. In a separate memo to employees about the management decisions, the company's chief executive blamed the search data incident on poor judgment.
